Manual trading — what we practice with Smart Money Concepts — remains our core activity. But certain strategies naturally lend themselves to automation: grid trading in ranges, systematic DCA, portfolio rebalancing. These are repetitive operations where human emotion is a liability, not an asset.

The challenge is choosing the right tool. Three platforms dominate the crypto bot market in 2026: Pionex, 3Commas and Kryll. Each has a different philosophy.

Three philosophies at a glance

Pionex — the integrated exchange-bot

Pionex is not a third-party tool: it is a full exchange with built-in bots. You deposit funds on Pionex and bots trade directly on the platform. 3Commas — the multi-exchange Swiss army knife

3Commas is a third-party tool that connects to your existing exchange (Binance, Bybit, KuCoin, OKX, etc.) via API. The advantage: you keep your funds on the exchange of your choice. 3Commas offers DCA bots, Grid bots, Smart Trade (advanced TP/SL), and a signal marketplace.

Business model: monthly subscription from $22 (Starter) to $99 (Expert). Trading fees are those of your exchange — they stack on top of the 3Commas subscription.

Kryll — the French platform with a visual editor

Kryll is a French platform that lets you create automated trading strategies via a visual drag-and-drop editor. The approach differs: instead of preconfigured bots, you build your own flows with logic blocks (if price > X, then buy, else wait, etc.). Kryll also features a marketplace where users share their strategies.

Business model: Kryll uses a native token (KRL) to pay for strategy usage fees. Cost varies depending on volume and the strategy used. Trading fees are those of your connected exchange.

Detailed comparison: criterion by criterion

1. Total cost — the most underestimated criterion

The real cost of a trading bot goes beyond displayed fees. You must add the subscription (if any) and trading fees on each execution.

• Pionex: $0 subscription + 0.05% per trade. On 100 trades/month of $500 each, total cost is ~$25/month in fees.
• 3Commas: $22-99/month subscription + your exchange fees (typically 0.10% on Binance). Same scenario: $50 exchange fees + $22-99 subscription = $72-149/month.
• Kryll: variable KRL fees per strategy + exchange fees. Hard to estimate precisely, but generally falls between the two.

Cost verdict: Pionex is clearly the cheapest. No subscription and 0.05% trading fees make it the most economical solution, especially for active traders executing many trades per month.

2. Bot types and flexibility

• Pionex: 16+ preconfigured bots. Grid Bot (spot and futures), DCA Bot, Infinity Grid, Rebalancing Bot, Trailing Buy/Sell, Leveraged Grid, Martingale Bot, and PionexGPT. Covers 90% of needs — but you cannot create fully custom strategies.
• 3Commas: DCA Bot (most popular), Grid Bot, Smart Trade with advanced TP/SL, and signal marketplace. Fewer native bots than Pionex, but multi-exchange connectivity provides more flexibility on available pairs.
• Kryll: unlimited visual editor — you can theoretically build any strategy. The most flexible platform, but also the most complex to master. Ideal for technical traders who want to code their own logic without writing code.

Flexibility verdict: Kryll for custom creation. Pionex for effective preconfigured bots without the hassle. 3Commas sits between the two.

3. Ease of use

A bot left unused because it is too complex to configure is worthless.

• Pionex: the simplest of the three. You choose a bot, a pair, set your parameters (range, amount) and launch. PionexGPT can even configure the bot for you in plain language. No API keys to manage.
• 3Commas: moderate setup. The initial API connection can intimidate beginners, but once in place, the interface is clear. The DCA bot is well documented.
• Kryll: the visual editor is intuitive for simple strategies, but the learning curve steepens quickly for advanced setups. Great for builders, less for "set and forget" users.

Ease of use verdict: Pionex without hesitation. It is the only platform where a beginner can launch a working bot in under 5 minutes.

4. Security

Security is critical — you are entrusting your capital to these platforms.

• Pionex: integrated exchange, registered FinCEN (MSB) in the US. 2FA, address whitelisting, Proof of Reserves via Merkle Tree. No major hack since its founding in 2019. Your funds sit directly on Pionex.
• 3Commas: third-party tool — your funds stay on your exchange, but you must share API keys with 3Commas. In December 2022, 3Commas suffered an API key leak that allowed unauthorized trades on some users' accounts. The platform has strengthened its protocols since, but the incident left a mark.
• Kryll: API connection as well. No major security incident reported. Team based in France, offering a closer legal framework for European users.

Security verdict: Pionex benefits from not requiring third-party API keys — one fewer attack vector. The clean track record since 2019 is solid. 3Commas was weakened by the 2022 leak, even though fixes were applied.

5. Supported exchanges

• Pionex: integrated platform only — bots work on Pionex. This is the main limitation: you cannot use Pionex bots on Binance or Bybit.
• 3Commas: Binance, Bybit, OKX, KuCoin, Coinbase, and 15+ supported exchanges. This is 3Commas' major strength.
• Kryll: Binance, Bybit, KuCoin and a few others. Narrower than 3Commas but covers the major exchanges.

Compatibility verdict: 3Commas wins on versatility. If you absolutely want to keep your funds on Binance and run bots there, 3Commas is the best option. Pionex owns its limitation: everything happens on its platform.
